Little Free Library added to the Fun on The Run program

The Parks & Recreation Department is excited to partner with Cordelia Rotary to bring the “Little Free Library” to our Fun on the Run (FOTR) program.  Little Free Library is a book sharing movement that promotes neighborhood book exchanges as a way to build community.

The Fun on the Run library will be stocked with books for all ages in both English and Spanish. Participants will be encouraged to borrow a book to read during the program or take one home to read with their families.

In order to make the traditionally stationary library box fit the mobile Fun on the Run model, the department enlisted the help of Ken Snyder and Dave Maupin from the Adult Recreation Center Woodshop Club.  In a matter of days, Ken and Dave created the mobile Little Free Library complete with wheels to allow it to be rolled on-and-off of the truck and be available to kids at different parks and apartments throughout Fairfield.

A big thank you to Ken and Dave and Cordelia Rotary for the efforts to bring this program to life! Watch VIDEO
