Historic buildings are being restored to house restaurants, galleries, and retail spaces and the downtown streetscape project is transforming busy roadways into an inviting, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood—where the only car horns you may hear are friends honking hello.

From fast casual to fine dining, Fairfield boasts a wide range of culinary choices for every mood and moment. There are more than 16 restaurants in the Downtown area alone, featuring a mouthwatering array of cultures and cuisines— from Mexican and Indian to Mediterranean and Thai. And everything in between.

Restaurants located in the downtown serve food from around the globe and are highly rated by customers. Most positive reviews revolve around food quality, consistency, and customer service. The mission of the Art in Public Spaces Policy is to serve as the guiding principle and criteria for the development and management of public art in the city of Fairfield. Fairfield seeks to expand public art throughout the community by fostering, facilitating, and implementing projects that exhibit the history, values, diversity of cultures, and aspirations of the city.

The revitalization of downtown Fairfield is a City priority. Current and future projects that will contribute to the creation of an economically vibrant and safe downtown are underway.

Let's Celebrate!

A diverse range of celebrations and events reflects Fairfield’s unique history, shared heritage, and dynamic diversity. For a large community, Downtown Fairfield is still the site for small-town events such as a Fourth of July parade and Christmas Tree Lighting. The Tomato Festival has also been held in Downtown Fairfield for over 20 years, as celebration of our region’s agriculture roots. This fall, the festival is evolving to the Tomato and Vine Festival to showcase the Suisun Valley wine region.

The revitalized Downtown District is home to a busy schedule of events, festivals, parades, dining, music and shopping. From May to September, you’ll find patrons savoring the bounty of our Downtown Farmers Market. While long days and cool nights also bring music to our city streets and parks as part of our upcoming Summer Music Series. Our contemporary Downtown Theatre inspires creative passions year round with an abundance of performing arts.
