  • Fairfield's Economic Development team took the time to learn about our needs. The city has great water and a good supply of buildings, with room for expansion.

  • Fairfield has what food companies need—available land, transportation access, water resources and quality of life for our workers.
Robert Simpson, President, Jelly Belly Candy Co., 09/30/2021
  • We chose Fairfield because of the value of real estate, the City’s business-friendly environment, and the fact that the transportation lanes are attractive for shipping and transporting product. We also found that the access to skilled workers in the area is well-suited to our needs.
Michael J. Mendes, Chief Executive, Just Desserts, 09/30/2021
  • We looked throughout the immediate San Francisco Bay Area and chose Fairfield because of the availability of a value-priced new building. In addition, the City’s strategic location on Interstate 80 is ideal for distributing our products. Because we purchase meat, poultry, and produce items from the Central Valley, its proximity to that area of the state is beneficial

Here are just a few of the reasons growing businesses are selecting Fairfield:

Business-Ready Location

Not only is Fairfield centrally located between San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento (45 miles from each), it also offers readily-available, affordable land and buildings. The City is equipped with necessary infrastructure to help businesses open as soon as possible, both in existing space or entitled land for development.

Education

Fairfield grants access to a wide variety of educational options, including eighteen highly-rated elementary schools, three middle schools, four high schools, an adult school (including an English Language Center) and Solano Community College. In addition, more than 30 colleges and universities are within commuting distance, including two California State Universities and three Universities of California.

Housing

With a median home price about half that of the Bay Area average, Fairfield boasts the highest percentage of residential sales in Solano County and higher than average home ownership rates. Fairfield offers a wide range of living choices with recreational amenities including two acclaimed golf courses, the Alan Witt Aquatics Complex, more than 20 miles of hiking trails and 871.5 acres of parks.

Workforce

The current labor pool of Fairfield consists of nearly 60,000 persons, with more than 1.1 million workers available within a 30-mile radius. Average wage rates in the Fairfield area are very competitive, approximately 30% lower than the San Francisco average. Nearly half of Fairfield's current workforce commutes outside Solano County to work, creating an opportunity to fill new jobs in the community.
