The City will assist companies seeking a location in Fairfield, as well as existing businesses looking to expand. Fairfield has a successful track record creating business parks, helping companies secure a site that meets its needs, assisting with city development approvals, and providing follow up business retention calls.

The City of Fairfield's Business Retention and Expansion Program (BRE) is an Economic Development effort that promotes economic growth in Fairfield. The purpose of the Business Retention Program is to provide assistance to local businesses to ensure that they remain economically viable and have the opportunity to grow within Fairfield. The City's proactive Economic Development division staff works directly with businesses and economic development organizations to provide assistance that can result in the retention and creation of jobs and investments in the city of Fairfield.

Successful Attractions and Expansions

Valley Strong Credit Union: Recently broke ground to it's expansion location on North Texas Street.

BMW of Fairfield:

VICI Collection:

Critelli Olive Oil: Opened a 92,568 SF manufacturing/production facility that created 20 to 30 jobs.

Formaggi Di Ferrante: Opened a 8,600 SF space in Western Business Park that included production facilities and a café serving pizza and Italian dishes. The facility created 5 new jobs.

Heretic Brewery: Purchased a 24,200 SF building. The expanded production facility also included a brew pub with a full menu and the build out of a indoor dining room. 5 to 10 jobs were created.

Just Desserts: Opened a 75,000 SF manufacturing/production facility after relocating from a a 35,000 SF facility in Oakland. The facility opened, and created 100 new jobs.

Primal Pet Foods: Relocated to a 50,000 SF manufacturing/production facility. The facility created about 50 to 60 jobs.

Incentives and Assistance

The City of Fairfield provides financial incentives to businesses moving to Fairfield or expanding an existing Fairfield business on a case-by-case basis. The level and scope of financial assistance is determined by the number and quality of jobs and capital investment that a new or expanding company may bring to Fairfield, as well as other factors.

The City of Fairfield has developed the Fairfield Guide to Business to assist businesses with information on local, state, and federal loan programs and other loan sources available to businesses.

Assistance

Site Selection

Economic Development staff will assist businesses throughout the site selection and entitlement processes. The city will serve as an advocate and ensure that City permit approvals are handled efficiently and in a timely manner.

Streamlined Permit Processing

The city's streamlined permit process allows for reduced development review and processing times. Staff can issue many permits administratively. Those that have to be reviewed by the Planning Commission will be done in an eight to ten week time period. These procedures apply to nearly all development projects.
