Engineering Design

The capital design engineers are responsible for the preparation of bid documents for a variety of capital projects. The capital design engineers act as project managers for the projects, from design through project completion.

Capital projects are construction projects within the public right-of-way or on public facilities. This could include projects involving water treatment plants, police and fire facilities, and other projects to improve and modernize the City of Fairfield.

Engineering Construction

Construction engineering deals with the planning and management of the construction of structures, streets, highways, parks, water and sewer facilities, street lighting and traffic signals throughout the City of Fairfield. Construction of these projects require a knowledge of engineering and management principles, business procedures, economics, and human behavior. Construction engineers engage in the design of temporary structures, quality assurance, quality control, site material testing, concrete mix design, planning and scheduling, safety engineering, cost engineering and budgeting.
