Expanded Police Presence
Council Goal: Quality of Life - Safety
The Investigations Division (31 staff) moved into the second floor of the Cordelia Library at 5050 Business Center Drive last October, after outgrowing the building at 1100 Texas St. The move expands the department’s footprint in the Cordelia area and paves the
way for a future public-facing office in Cordelia.
Created the Community Action Team (CAT)
Council Goal: Quality of Life - Services
Fairfield businesses and residential apartment communities face several challenges related to homelessness and crime. The four person Community Action Team (CAT) was created to address these issues. CAT utilizes Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles to make businesses and communities more secure and less attractive to thieves. CAT also utilizes uses the CPTED principles with the Crime Free Multi-Housing program.
Reinstated Chaplaincy Program
Council Goal: Quality of Life - Services
The Police Department reinstated the community chaplaincy program that ended during the pandemic and now has four volunteer community chaplains. Community Chaplains are available upon request when major incidents occur and community members are distraught and in need of counsel and comfort. Chaplains also aid officers who must continue to perform their duties in the wake of tragedy.
