Completed Key Street Improvements

Council Goal: Quality of Life - Infrastructure

Street repairs

In 2022, Public Works completed several street improvement projects to key arterials in Fairfield including: segments of West Texas St, North Texas St, Travis Boulevard, Air Base Parkway, Parker Road, and the Fulton-Fermi-Watt Industrial area. This pavement maintenance work equates to roughly 1.61 million square feet of new smooth, drivable streets.

These projects utilize the City’s Measure P and Gas Tax funding to provide greater connectivity for all modes of transportation and improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Striping & Intersection Improvement Project Completed

 Council Goal: Downtown Development

Striping Project

To create a more pedestrian and bicycle-friendly environment, Public Works completed the Heart of Fairfield Downtown Striping & Intersection Improvement Project. Segments of Great Jones, Taylor, Webster, and Jefferson Streets were converted to one-way streets and diagonal parking adjacent to downtown businesses was added. Traffic signalized intersections were also changed to all-way stops along Texas Street at Jackson, Webster, and Jefferson Streets.

This project is part of the Heart of Fairfield plan aimed at attracting businesses, residents, and visitors to the downtown area
to boost local economy.
